Higdon Furniture is a family owned and operated Paducah business that has served families across the four state area of Kentucky, Missouri, Illinois, and Tennessee for decades. Founded in 1970 by Ollie and Maurene Higdon, the company has grown into one of Western Kentucky’s leading home furnishings destinations. Today, customers shop a 45,000 square foot showroom featuring quality furniture, mattresses, and accessories, along with interior design and floor planning assistance and a low price guarantee.

POSITION SUMMARY
Higdon Furniture is seeking an energetic and personable Sales Associate to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, has a passion for home furnishings, and thrives in a goal oriented retail environment. The Sales Associate is responsible for guiding customers through the purchasing process, building long term relationships, and helping families create beautiful and functional spaces in their homes. This position plays a key role in driving showroom sales while delivering exceptional customer service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Greet customers promptly and provide a welcoming showroom experience
  • Build rapport with customers to understand their needs, style preferences, and budget
  • Educate customers on product features, warranties, financing options, and delivery timelines
  • Create and process sales orders accurately
  • Follow up with customers regarding special orders, delivery updates, and post-sale service
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of current inventory, promotions, and product lines
  • Assist with merchandising and maintaining showroom appearance
  • Work collaboratively with office staff, delivery team, and management
  • Meet or exceed individual and team sales goals
  • Other related duties as necessary or assigned
MINIMUM SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Previous retail or sales experience preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude
  • Ability to build trust and establish long term customer relationships
  • Thrives in a performance driven, goal oriented sales environment
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn point of sale systems
  • Must be comfortable working Saturdays and some holidays
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Able to pass a pre employment drug screen and a thorough criminal background check
WORK SCHEDULE
  • The showroom is open Monday through Saturday and closed on Sundays. All employees are off on Sundays.
  • During the initial training period, the Sales Associate will typically work Tuesday through Saturday to allow for structured onboarding and hands on learning.
  • After the training phase, the regular weekly schedule will consist of 5 working days and will vary based on scheduling needs and business demand. Sales Associates should expect to work peak traffic days, including Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process.
WHAT WE OFFER YOU
Higdon Furniture offers a benefits package designed to support long term employees.
  • After 90 days of employment, employees receive six (6) personal days and are eligible to enroll in supplemental insurance options including dental, vision, life, cancer, short term, and long term coverage through Aflac.
  • Higdon Furniture provides company paid life insurance coverage in the amount of $10,000, with the option to purchase additional coverage.
  • After a year of employment, employees earn one (1) week of paid vacation, are eligible for paid holidays, and may participate in the company’s 401k plan with a 3% employer match.
